Kashmir Police Investigate "White Collar" Terror Network with Raids

Jammu and Kashmir Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids in Srinagar and Ganderbal district on Friday, focusing on a probe into a "white-collar" terror network.

Raids in Batamaloo and Ganderbal

The SIA teams searched the Batamaloo residence of Tufail Niyaz Bhat, an AC technician previously taken into custody. Officials believe Bhat provided the AK-47 recovered from a locker belonging to Adeel Ahmad Rather at Government Medical College in Anantnag. Rather faces charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act related to the Delhi blast case.

Bhat, 25, was initially detained by CARGO, the operations wing of J&K Police, before the case was transferred to the SIA after authorities uncovered an inter-state module and transferred the Nowgam case.

Another raid was carried out at the home of Zameer Ahangar in Wakoora, Ganderbal, as part of the same investigation. Police had previously recovered a pistol from Ahangar, allegedly given to him by Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagey, who is also an accused in the case.

Earlier Arrests and Jaish-e-Mohammad Connection

On October 19, J&K Police arrested Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar from Nowgam, along with a cleric known as "Mufti Sahab." These arrests followed the appearance of Jaish-e-Mohammad posters threatening police and security personnel in the Bonpora area. Questioning of those arrested led to the uncovering of a Jaish module involving doctors.
