Jammu Prison Break: Two Pakistani Nationals Among Three Fugitives After Violent Attack on Guards
In a shocking incident reported from Jammu and Kashmir's R S Pura, dramatic surveillance video from a juvenile observation home captured the audacious escape of three inmates, including two Pakistani citizens. The trio violently assaulted armed guards before making their getaway, prompting a massive manhunt across the entire Jammu district.
Details of the High-Stakes Escape
The security breach occurred around 5:15 PM on Monday at the Observation Home, situated in a sensitive border region of Jammu. Authorities quickly identified the escapees as Karajeet Singh alias Gugga, a local resident of Dablehar in R S Pura, alongside two individuals identified as Pakistani nationals: Mohammad Suna-ullah and Ahsan Anwar. Official reports confirm that these three individuals attacked two police officers assigned to guard duty before successfully fleeing the premises.
CCTV Footage Reveals Armed Confrontation
The released CCTV footage provides crucial insights, showing one of the inmates pointing a firearm at security personnel and discharging it within the facility. Investigations suggest that this locally manufactured pistol was illicitly brought into the observation home. Police are now intensely investigating the origin of the weapon and the exact circumstances that facilitated this significant security breach.
Officers Injured in the Attack
Two officers, Special Police Officer (SPO) Vinay Kumar and Head Constable Praveen Kumar, sustained injuries during the confrontation and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Dr. Sanowar Singh, a Medical Officer at the Sub-District Hospital, confirmed that both men received initial first aid before being transferred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital for more specialized medical attention.
Post-Escape Actions and Massive Manhunt Launched
Following their escape, the fugitives reportedly committed another crime, robbing a motorcycle at gunpoint to aid their getaway. Security measures have been drastically tightened across the region, with specialized checkpoints now operational on routes leading towards the Samba district. Authorities fear the escapees may attempt to reach the national highway or move closer to the international border.
The Jammu Police have initiated a large-scale search operation, deploying multiple specialized teams and conducting raids at various locations. Senior police officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General Bhim Sen Tuti, have visited the scene to personally oversee the ongoing investigation into the jailbreak and to assess any potential lapses in security at the observation facility.
