Recent events involving popular online personalities, from violent attacks and tragic deaths to serious threats and a dangerous livestream accident, are shedding light on the darker side of being famous on the internet. Behind the exciting world of huge follower counts, trending videos, and brand deals, there's a more worrying truth about the lives of social media influencers.

In recent months, several well-known creators have become caught up in frightening situations that show how online fame can lead to serious dangers in the real world. What starts as digital popularity often moves offline, attracting not just fans but also rivals and even criminals.

YouTuber Anurag Dobhal's High-Speed Livestream Crash

Anurag Dobhal, a popular motovlogger known as UK07 Rider and a former contestant on Bigg Boss 17, was injured after his SUV crashed while he was live-streaming on social media. The accident happened on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway near Masuri in Ghaziabad.

Dobhal was driving a Toyota Fortuner at high speed during an Instagram live broadcast that over 80,000 people were watching. In a video shared online, Dobhal looked very upset while driving at speeds of about 140–150 km/h. Just before the crash, he pointed his camera at the windshield and speedometer as his vehicle sped up. A Hindi song was playing inside the SUV before it hit the highway divider.

During the live stream, Dobhal spoke emotionally to his mother, saying, "When I return in the next birth, please give me love." After the crash, people nearby helped him and called the police. Officers took him to Subharti Hospital in Meerut. Doctors confirmed he had injuries and fractures but was stable and later released after receiving a cast.

In the days leading up to the accident, some of Dobhal's posts had worried his fans. On March 4, he uploaded a nearly two-hour video, calling it his "last video" and stating he was in "deep mental distress" after not eating for five days. He claimed that family problems over his inter-caste marriage had made him think about harming himself.

Tragic End for Nancy Grewal: Canadian Stabbing Incident

Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old YouTuber and influencer of Punjabi origin, was fatally stabbed in LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, on March 3. Originally from Ludhiana, India, Nancy was known for her videos discussing India–Canada tensions, criticizing Khalistani extremism, and engaging with politicians and religious leaders online.

She had recently posted videos against the Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief and had confronted Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron, a suspect in another influencer's murder case, accusing him of moral policing. Nancy was in LaSalle to visit an elderly patient she cared for as a nurse. As she left the patient's home around 9:30 PM, she was attacked. Emergency services rushed her to a hospital, but she died from her injuries.

Her family revealed that Grewal had been receiving threats before the attack. A month earlier, someone tried to set her house on fire, but the fire didn't spread due to the weather. Her family, monitoring her security cameras from India, contacted the police when she didn't return home, only to learn authorities were already investigating her death.

YouTuber Ravina and Lover Arrested for Husband's Murder

In a disturbing incident, 28-year-old YouTuber Ravina is accused of murdering her husband with her lover's help after he reportedly found them together. The couple then allegedly dumped his body in a drain in Bhiwani, Haryana. Both Ravina, from Jhojhu village, and Suresh, a resident of Prem Nagar, Hisar, have been arrested.

Ravina was active on YouTube and Instagram, with over 34,000 followers under "Ravina Rao," where she shared short videos and dance clips. She and Suresh had been communicating for about 1.5 years, creating content together. Reports suggest her strong focus on social media and her relationship with Suresh caused issues in her marriage.

On March 25, her husband Praveen allegedly discovered them in a private moment, leading to a heated argument. The couple reportedly strangled him with a scarf on the bed and waited until everyone was asleep before moving the body. Video footage reportedly shows Ravina and Suresh transporting Praveen's body on a motorcycle around 2:30 AM, returning almost two hours later without it. The next morning, Ravina claimed Praveen had left in another vehicle. The couple had a six-year-old son. Praveen's body was later found in a drain.

Elvish Yadav's House Targeted in Gurgaon Shooting

The residence of YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav in Gurgaon's Sector 56 became the scene of a shooting. Three masked individuals on a motorcycle reportedly fired around 15 bullets at his home between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM before escaping.

Elvish was away on work when the attack happened. Family members and a caretaker inside the house were unharmed, but the property suffered significant damage, including bullet holes, broken glass, and damaged walls and floors.

The Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility, accusing Yadav of promoting betting applications that they alleged had "ruined many households." YouTuber Saleem Wastik Stabbed Over Religious Views

In Loni, businessman and YouTuber Saleem Wastik, 55, was repeatedly stabbed by two men who forced their way into his office. Wastik, known for his videos on religious practices, suffered severe knife wounds to his abdomen and throat and was quickly taken to the hospital.

Investigators believe the attackers targeted him because of his opinions on Islam and the videos he shared online. Another possible reason was that one of the attackers sought social media attention. Police stated that two men wearing helmets arrived on a motorcycle, told children outside to leave, and then attacked Wastik inside. They beat him before stabbing him multiple times. When his family rushed in, the attackers fled.

Police Commissioner J. Ravindra Goud confirmed that investigators believe the brothers involved were unhappy with Wastik's views on Islam. Goud also suggested that one suspect, Zeeshan, who had few Instagram followers, might have wanted to gain attention. Ghulfam, the second suspect in Wastik's attack, was later killed by police in an encounter, less than 48 hours after his brother Zeeshan was also shot dead in a similar operation.
