Tragic Incident in Uttar Pradesh: Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run After Dispute
A woman in Uttar Pradesh has died, and two others are critically injured, after being struck by a car allegedly driven by two men following an argument over parking and public intoxication. The incident occurred in Mustafabad village, within the Shivala Kala police station area of Bijnor district.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, the two men parked their car in front of a house, began drinking, and used offensive language. This prompted Ankit Kumar, 25, a member of the household, to ask them to leave. This request escalated into an altercation involving other family members.
The men initially left the scene but returned shortly after in their car. They then allegedly drove the vehicle directly towards the family members who were standing outside. While the men managed to avoid the car, three women were hit.
- Maya Devi, 50, died from her injuries.
- Kela Devi, 45, and another woman are in critical condition.
The injured women were initially taken to a local primary health center and subsequently transferred to a private hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Legal Action and Arrests
Police have arrested the two suspects, identified as Prashant Tomar and Rohit Rohit, both in their early 20s. The car involved in the incident has been seized.
Chandpur CO Desh Deepak Kumar stated that a case was initially registered against the accused under sections 115(2), 352, 351(2), 109 and 117(2) of BNS and section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act. Following the death of Maya Devi, additional BNS charges are being added to the FIR, according to DSP Kumar.
