Prime Minister Modi recalled a prior commitment to visit Malaysia, which he was fulfilling during this current trip. He highlighted the critical focus on enhancing security collaboration between the two nations. This includes intensifying efforts in counter-terrorism, improving intelligence sharing, and bolstering maritime security. Furthermore, both leaders agreed to expand and deepen their overall defence cooperation.

Beyond security, the leaders explored avenues for cooperation in advanced technological sectors. Key areas identified for future partnership include:

A recently organized CEO forum, PM Modi stated, has unveiled significant new prospects for trade and investment, laying the groundwork for mutual economic growth built on strategic trust. Culturally, the strong bond of the Tamil language was acknowledged as a vital link between India and Malaysia. The vibrant presence of Tamil in Malaysia's education system, media, and cultural landscape was celebrated. A new Audio Visual Agreement, signed during the visit, is expected to further strengthen these cultural ties, particularly through cinema and music, especially Tamil films.
India's Zero-Tolerance Policy on Terrorism
In a powerful declaration, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's steadfast and uncompromising position against terrorism. Speaking alongside his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, in Kuala Lumpur, he underlined New Delhi's unwavering support for global peace initiatives. "Our stance on terrorism is unequivocal: there can be no double standards and absolutely no compromise," PM Modi asserted, sending a strong message.
This firm statement on security cooperation, including enhanced efforts in counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing, comes as reports suggested that the potential extradition of controversial preacher Zakir Naik was a topic India intended to raise during these high-level discussions.
