A shocking incident of violence has happened in Palakkad, Kerala. A Dalit migrant worker from Chhattisgarh was reportedly beaten to death by a group of people. Initial reports suggest he was mistaken for a Bangladeshi national or a thief. This sad event has caused much worry and fear among other migrant workers in the region.

Who Was Ramnarayan Baghel?

  • The man who died was Ramnarayan Baghel, 31 years old.
  • He was from Karhi village in Sakti district, Chhattisgarh.
  • Ramnarayan came to Palakkad on December 13 to find work.
  • He worked as a daily wage labourer at a construction site.
  • His relative, Kishan Baghel, said Ramnarayan was very poor.
  • He leaves behind his wife, Lalita, and two young sons, aged around eight and nine.

The Attack and Its Cause

Some sources claim that Ramnarayan was wrongly thought to be a thief after a local theft incident. A group of people then attacked him brutally with sticks. This severe assault led to his death. Ramnarayan's wife travelled to Palakkad after hearing the sad news.

Police Investigation and Arrests

After the incident, there was tension in the area. The police have increased security to prevent further problems. Kerala police have arrested five people in connection with Ramnarayan's death. They are doing a detailed investigation to understand exactly what happened and the reason behind this crime.

A police case has been registered at Walayar police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police confirmed Ramnarayan's identity using his Aadhaar card. They then informed the police in Sakti, Chhattisgarh, about his death.

Family Devastated

The news of Ramnarayan’s death has deeply saddened his family in Sakti. His village is now in mourning. Police said that after all legal steps, including a post-mortem examination, his body will be sent back to his home village for the final ceremonies.
