Man Arrested for Killing Live-in Partner

Police in Haryana have arrested a 28-year-old taxi driver from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of killing his 33-year-old live-in partner. Her body, found without a head, was discovered in the Kalesar forest in Yamuna Nagar district about a week before his arrest.

Investigators say the main reason for the murder was that the woman kept asking him to marry her, putting a lot of pressure on him.

The Couple's Life Together

  • The man, Mohd Bilal from Tidoli village, and the woman, Uma Singh from Ramzanpura, had been living together for almost two years.
  • They rented a room in Defence Colony, Saharanpur.
  • To their neighbours, they pretended to be husband and wife.

The Horrible Crime

Police say the murder happened on the night of December 6:

  1. Bilal allegedly took Uma to a quiet spot near the Lal Dhang Gorge in Haryana.
  2. He then choked her to death using a car seatbelt.

Hiding the Evidence

To make it hard for anyone to know who Uma was, Bilal took extreme steps:

  • He cut off her head.
  • He left her body near the Bahadura poplar tree nursery.
  • He hid her head and her clothes in different parts of the forest.

The Arrest and Charges

Bilal was caught at his home on a Saturday night, just one day before he was supposed to marry another woman. Police have filed a case against him under new Indian laws:

  • Section 103: For murder.
  • Section 238: For trying to hide proof of the crime.

Police Face a Big Challenge

Kamaldeep Goyal, the police chief of Yamuna Nagar, said finding a body without a head on December 7 made the investigation very difficult.

"The hardest part was finding out who the victim was. He clearly tried to make it impossible to know who she was by cutting off her head and leaving her body in the jungle without clothes," he explained.

How Police Solved the Case

To identify the victim, police shared information about the case in towns across Haryana and nearby areas in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. But no missing person reports matched the description.

Later, police found Bilal using two key pieces of evidence:

  1. CCTV footage: Videos from security cameras showed his car, which was registered in Uttar Pradesh, at the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana.
  2. Mobile phone data: They checked where his phone had been, which helped trace his movements.

After his arrest, Bilal showed police where he said he threw Uma's head. However, the head could not be found. Police are still searching for the missing body part and the clothes.

Uma's Past Life

Uma had separated from her husband, Johny Singh, who was a painter and had a disability. They often argued, which led to their separation.

Johny Singh said on Monday, "We got married 15 years ago and have a 13-year-old son who lives with me. She divorced me two years ago and sometimes came to see our son. I had no idea who she was living with."

Bilal's Family Shocked

Bilal's family stated that they did not know about his relationship with Uma. A relative said, "We never knew he was involved with a married woman. This has come as a complete shock to us."
