Taxi Driver Murdered in Delhi After Ride Refusal

A 27-year-old taxi driver was fatally stabbed near Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi on Wednesday after refusing to give a group a ride to India Gate. The group, including three minors, was reportedly celebrating the birthday of a local criminal.

Details of the Incident

The victim, identified as Kuldeep from Ayodhya, was approached by the group near a public lavatory. They demanded he take them for a "joyride." When Kuldeep refused, the situation escalated, and he was stabbed before the group stole his taxi.

  • The incident occurred between 4 am and 5 am.
  • Kuldeep's body was discovered several hours later by passersby.
  • He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Investigation and Arrests

Police responded to a PCR call around 8:30 am, reporting a body under the Barapullah flyover near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station. An investigation was launched, and authorities reviewed over 500 CCTV camera feeds.

DCP Hemant Tiwari stated that footage from a lavatory near a temple in Bhogal led to the identification of the suspects. The adult suspect, Imran alias Panwadi (19), and the three minors were apprehended.

Suspect's Background and Motives

Imran has a criminal history, including involvement in snatchings and theft. He is believed to be the primary perpetrator of the murder. During interrogation, the suspects admitted they wanted to go to India Gate after Imran's birthday celebration.

The suspects initially claimed the altercation started over public urination, but police determined this was false. Under the influence of alcohol, they allegedly stabbed Kuldeep in a fit of rage when he refused to drive them.

Evidence Recovered

Police recovered the stolen taxi abandoned in Jangpura. They also found Kuldeep's blood-stained clothes and the knife used in the stabbing.
