Tamil Nadu Government Tells Court: Hill Pillar Built by Jains, Not Hindus
The Tamil Nadu government has told the Madras High Court that a stone pillar on Thiruparankundram hill was made by Jain saints, not Hindus.

Ancient Pillar's Origin: Jain or Hindu?

The Tamil Nadu government has told the Madras High Court that a stone pillar on Thiruparankundram hill was made by Jain saints, not Hindus.

They showed old evidence (archaeological texts) to prove this point.

Court Hears Arguments

The court is currently listening to appeals about lighting a special lamp called Karthigai Deepam at the pillar.

A lawyer for a Muslim shrine (dargah) also spoke. They argued that the pillar should not be called a lamp post.
