Speaking at the conclusion of the three-day conference held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, PM Modi highlighted several key areas for improvement:

  • Strengthening Urban Policing: Focusing on modern policing strategies for urban environments.
  • Reinvigorating Tourist Police: Enhancing the safety and security of tourists.
  • Leveraging Technology: Effectively using databases like the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) and artificial intelligence to generate actionable intelligence.
  • Forensic Science: Encouraging universities to conduct case studies on the use of forensics in police investigations to strengthen the criminal justice system.

Combating Drug Abuse and Enhancing Disaster Management

He also emphasized stronger preparedness and coordination for disaster management, urging police chiefs to reinforce mechanisms for effective response to cyclones, floods, and other natural emergencies. He cited Cyclone Ditwah as an example requiring proactive planning, real-time coordination, and prompt response.
