PM Modi Highlights Unity and Local Products in 'Mann ki Baat'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his monthly radio address, 'Mann ki Baat,' to promote cultural unity and encourage support for local products. He urged citizens to participate in events like the upcoming Kashi-Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi, emphasizing the importance of "Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat" (One India, Great India).
Kashi-Tamil Sangamam: A Celebration of Culture
Modi highlighted the fourth Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, starting December 2nd in Varanasi, with the theme "Tamil Karkalam," meaning "Learn Tamil." He emphasized the confluence of the world's oldest language and one of the world's oldest cities, praising the event as a vital platform for those connected to the Tamil language.
He encouraged people to participate in the Sangamam and other platforms that strengthen the spirit of unity.
He also spoke a few lines in Tamil, which translate to, “Tamil culture is great, Tamil language is great, and Tamil is the pride of India.”
"Vocal for Local" Campaign
The Prime Minister reiterated his call for citizens to embrace the "vocal for local" mantra, urging them to buy and sell locally made products. He mentioned showcasing local craftsmanship from Rajasthan, Telangana, and Kerala at the recent G-20 summit in South Africa.
He stressed the importance of buying only what is made in the country and selling only what bears the hard work of a citizen of the country, especially ahead of the Christmas and year-end festive season.

- Buddhist Relics: Modi shared that people thanked India for sending Buddhist relics to Bhutan, Russia, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Thailand.
- Sports Achievements: He celebrated India's success in sports, including the women's team winning the ICC World Cup, achievements at the Deaflympics in Tokyo, the Kabaddi World Cup win by the women players, and the women's team winning the Blind Cricket World Cup.
- Tourism Potential: Modi highlighted India's potential for winter tourism, mentioning destinations like Auli, Munsyari, Chopta, and Deyara, and the growing popularity of hills for destination weddings. He also spoke about the upcoming winter games in Uttarakhand.
- Historic Milestones: Modi recounted inspiring historic and developmental milestones, including the nationwide celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, hoisting of the Dharmadhwaja at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and achieving a historic record with food grain production of 357 million tonnes.
- Infrastructure and Defense: Modi also spoke about inaugurating the world’s largest LEAP engine MRO facility for civil aircraft in Hyderabad, attending a ceremony in Mumbai where the INS Mahe was inducted into the Indian Navy, and the opening of the Skyroot Infinity Campus in Hyderabad.
