China Makes Visa Applications Easier for Indians
The Chinese embassy in India has started a new online system for visa applications. Now, people with Indian passports can apply for Chinese visas using the internet. This change makes applying much easier. Before, people had to visit the embassy many times and fill out a lot of papers.
How the New Online System Works
According to a report, if you are allowed to apply, you can now:
- Fill out forms online.
- Send in your documents digitally.
- Book an appointment for biometrics (like fingerprints) online.
This system is for many types of visas, such as:
- Tourist (L) visas
- Business (M) visas
- Student (X) visas
- Work (Z) visas
You only need to visit the embassy once now, just for your biometrics. This system also lets you see the status of your application at any time.
Important Details for Applicants
- The Chinese embassy announced that the online visa service would begin on December 22.
- You can go to their website to find out more and send in your application.
- The new online system also lets you pay visa fees in Indian Rupees (INR). This means you won't lose money on currency exchange.
Improving Relations Between India and China
This new step is part of many things India and China are doing to slowly make their relationship better. This follows the armies moving back from the border (Line of Actual Control or LAC) in eastern Ladakh last year.
Other Recent Steps to Improve Ties
In recent months, both countries have agreed on several important things:
- India started to process business visas faster for Chinese workers. However, officials said that the checks for these visas are still the same.
- India started giving tourist visas to Chinese people again in July. This was after they stopped giving them because of a military problem that started in May 2020.
- Both sides agreed to start the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (a pilgrimage) again.
- Direct flights between India and China have returned. These flights started again in October.
- They are celebrating 75 years of their diplomatic relationship.
- They are working on making it easier to get visas.
