Security Incidents Unfold in Jammu and Kashmir
On Sunday, police in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) found a special telescope. This telescope was made in China and can be attached to a weapon. It was found in the Sidhra area.
A six-year-old boy from Asrarabad had found the device. His family told police that he picked it up from a nearby garbage dump earlier that day. Police are now investigating how the telescope ended up there. They also questioned a 24-year-old man from Samba district in connection with this find. Police have asked people not to panic.
Other Important Security Events
In a separate event, police arrested a man named Tanvir Ahmad in Samba district. Officials said a phone number from Pakistan was found on his mobile phone. Ahmad is from Anantnag in South Kashmir but is currently living in Samba.
Also on Sunday, security forces started a search operation in Udhampur district of J&K. This happened after suspected terrorists allegedly took food from a village house. They then ran into a nearby forest. Police and other security teams quickly went to the area, but the terrorists had already escaped. Now, the forest around the village has been blocked off, and search efforts are stronger.
This search comes days after a serious incident in the same Udhampur region. On December 15, a policeman was killed in a gunfight with terrorists in Soan village. Security forces had learned that Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were in the area. The terrorists managed to get away using the thick trees and darkness.
