Major Breakthrough: Security Forces Neutralize Over a Dozen Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Security forces have achieved a significant success in their ongoing anti-insurgency efforts in Chhattisgarh. A recent report indicates that at least 14 Maoist rebels were killed in separate encounters with security personnel across the southern regions of Sukma and Bijapur districts in the Bastar division on Saturday. This comes as a crucial anti-insurgency drive by the security forces reached its final phases.

Details of the Intense Anti-Insurgency Operations

Following credible intelligence regarding the presence of armed Maoist cadres, extensive search operations were launched in the southern parts of Bijapur and Sukma. During these operations, the remains of 14 rebels were successfully recovered. Out of this total, two Maoists were neutralized in Bijapur district, while a larger group of twelve was killed in Sukma.

The operations were spearheaded by dedicated District Reserve Guard (DRG) teams deployed in the South Bastar region. According to officials, intermittent exchanges of fire commenced around 5 AM in Bijapur. Similar intense gunfights were reported in Sukma district, beginning approximately at 8 AM.

Significant Recoveries and Key Figures Eliminated

During thorough searches conducted at the encounter sites, security forces uncovered a substantial arsenal of weapons. This included high-powered AK-47s, INSAS rifles, and SLRs, as confirmed in a police statement. These recoveries highlight the significant blow dealt to the Maoist's operational capabilities.

Among those killed in Sukma was Sachin Mangtu, identified as a Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) from the Konta Area Committee, who died during a fierce exchange of fire in the districtโ€™s dense forests. Police sources have also indicated that all Maoist commanders suspected of being involved in the tragic killing of Konta ASP Akash Rao Girepunje have been neutralized during these ongoing operations.

Ongoing Search and Monitoring Efforts

As the operations are still actively underway, officials have chosen to withhold certain sensitive details. For the safety of personnel on the ground, authorities have refrained from disclosing precise locations, the exact strength of the forces involved, or other critical operational specifics.

Senior police officials, including Sukma SP Kiran Chavan and Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav, are actively overseeing the operations on the ground. Combing and search activities continue in the surrounding areas to ensure no additional Maoist presence. A comprehensive account of these operations and their full outcomes is expected to be shared once all search and combing exercises are concluded, officials added.
